Presidential decree n°90/1196 of 03 August 1990 defines the mission assigned to the Bilingual Training Programme. REPUBLIC OF CAMEROON PEACE – WORK – FATHERLAND Decree N° 90/1196 of 03 August 1990 to institute a Bilingual Training Programme
THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLICMindful of the Constitution; Mindful of Decree No 88/772 of 16 May 1988 to reorganize the Government; Mindful of Decree No 88/773 of 16 May 1988 to reorganising the Presidency of the Republic, as amended by Decree No. 89/673 of 13 April 1989; HEREBY DECREES AS FOLLOWS: CHAPTER I GENERAL PROVISIONS 1. (1) A Bilingual Training Programme, hereinafter referred in as “the Programme” , is hereby instituted under the authority of the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Republic. (2) The purpose of the Programme shall be to : - enable participants to acquire the required general skills to communicate orally or in writing in their second language, under working conditions described by their employers; - contribute to national unity and integration as well as to the promotion of the two official languages; - encourage participants to carry out self tuition at their own pace and according to their language and professional needs.
2. The Programme shall offer English and French courses in the Pilot Linguistic Centre, Yaounde and in Provincial Linguistic Centres in the chief-towns of provinces.
